José James was as amazing as always when he performed last weekend with his band at Weeksville Heritage Center in Brooklyn. It was super relaxed, like a garden party with friends! He performed with Christopher Smith (bass), Takuya Kuroda (trumpet), Adam Jackson (drums), Francis LoCrasto (keyboard). In case you missed him, on June 14 is your next chance to see him in NYC, at the SummerStage Gala in Central Park.
Just a day after Gil Scott-Heron passed away, we wanted to go somewhere where his style of music might be remembered and appreciated. And we found it: The two year celebration of I ❤ Vinyl at Le Poisson Rouge featured six DJs all spinning vinyl only (yes, no laptops), including songs by Gil Scott-Heron. Check them out - happens every few weeks, sometimes at LPR, sometimes in Brooklyn.

Bleckmann's music has been described as many things, including "otherwordly." Best is probably to just check out the 2 videos below and see for yourself! Guitar player Ben Monder was no less amazing.
