Undead Music Festival is organized by the same groups as the Winter Jazz fest (Search & Restore and Boom Collective), and so it wasn't surprising that the first night of Undead was quite similar to the WJF: Lots of bands playing in a few venues in Greenwich Village just within a block from each other.
Below are a three videos from what we saw on the first night of this year's Undead Festival. It features three groups.
The night started at Le Poisson Rouge, where the Refuseniks played as part of that night's tribute to the former music venue "Tonic." According to drummer John Hollenbeck, the trio, with Reuben Radding on bass and Ted Reichman on accordion, had not played together in nine years.
Then we headed to Sullivan Hall for one of our favorite performances: Stabbing Eastward offered an awesome mix of electronically distorted vocals by Tunde Adebimpe (the lead singer of the band TV on the Radio) and drums by Ryan Sawyer.
